Overhead Medicine Ball Throw

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Medicine Ball

STARTING POSITION

Find the appropriately weighted medicine ball and stand in front of a sturdy wall.

Put your arms in the air, holding medicine ball overhead.

PROCEDURE

  1. Make sure to keep your arms back and overhead.
  2. Bend the arms behind the head with the medicine ball resting almost on your neck.
  3. Launch the ball overhead extending the arms upward and forward.
  4. Catch the ball and repeat.

COACHING KEYS

  • Flex the abdominals when releasing the ball.
  • Start by standing closer to the wall and step further away as you get comfortable with the movement.
