Andrew Hooge is a fifteen-year strength and conditioning veteran and author of FitSkiing, the first comprehensive fitness guide for skiers. He has been an avid skier for over 30 years and has logged thousands of hours training skiers of all ages and skill levels.
After his book was released in 2003, Andrew was bombarded with questions that ranged from preventing injuries to improving ski racing performance. To handle all these questions, he created the first Web site designed to get skiers fit so they can ski longer and play harder. During the past two years he has received hundreds of requests to train people online. After researching all the available training options for skiers, he found only cookie cutter training programs that were not designed to meet the unique needs of skiers. “Most of the Web sites that produced these platforms were using the same programs for skiers that they used for football players and swimmers.” Frustrated, Andrew began developing the first fully customized fitness platform that would enable skiers to get their own custom fitness program. It has taken over a year of long hours, late nights, and hundreds of discussions and tests with skiers of all ages and abilities to create this one of a kind program, My Ski Coach.
At the heart of the My SkiCoach training system is Coach Hooge’s four-phased approach to improving a skier’s performance. It is a blend of four separate phases that includes exercises designed to improve a skier’s base level of conditioning, power endurance, strength endurance, and preventing injuries. Andrew has broken down each unique workout into 4 separate, progressive units to help ensure continued success and safety. They include:
- Activity Primers
- Strength
- Restoration
- Energy Work
“By using the My SkiCoach training system and tools you will not only be able to ski longer and play harder, you will be better prepared to ski the terrain you’ve always dreamed about!”
