New Satellite Device Keeps you Safe and Sound
One of my search and rescue friends mentioned a device called “
SPOTâ€, today. She told me that I should consider using this device when I go backcountry skiing. It has been dubbed the “world’s first satellite messengerâ€. According to the
company, SPOT performs a number of tasks that could help save your life and will definitely give your family and friends peace of mind. So, you may ask, what tasks does SPOT perform? • Alert 9-1-1: Alerts the
GEOS Emergency Response Center and sends one message every 5 minutes until power is depleted or the 911 call is cancelled. • Ask for Help: Request help from friends and family in your exact location. • Check In: Let your family and friends know where you are and that you are okay. • Track Your Progress: Use
SPOT to save your location and allow your friends and family to track your progress using Google Maps. I will review the product and post more information about
SPOT, as soon as I get my hands on one. Stay Fit Skiing! Andrew Hooge, CSCS, CES
