Overhead Rotational Medicine Ball Lunge

Equipment Needed

Medicine Ball

Starting Position

Find the appropriately weighted medicine ball. Put your arms in the air, holding medicine ball overhead.

Procedure

  1. Make sure to keep your arms back and overhead.
  2. Step out and perform a lunge.
  3. Rotate your torso towards the leg that is out in front of the body.
  4. Rotate back to center.
  5. Push upward with the front leg and bring the feet together.
  6. Repeat with the other side.

Coaching Keys

  • Keep the pressure on the heel of the front legs foot.
  • When the arms are overhead, keep the elbows in line with your ears.
  • Initiate the rotation with your torso and not your arms.

You Should Feel it...

In your thighs, core and shoulders.

Exercise Purpose

Improves total body strength and balance. Improves core strength and stability.
