Lying Hip Stretch

Equipment Needed
Yoga Strap or Towel
Starting Position
Lying on a the floor.
Procedure
- Wrap the yoga strap or towel around the base of your foot.
- Lift the leg into the air and straighten it.
- Holding the yoga strap in the opposite hand, pull the leg across to the opposite side of the body and down towards the floor
- When you feel "moderate discomfort" in the hip muscles hold for the suggested amount of time.
Coaching Keys
- Extend the arm that is not holding the yoga strap out to the side for an added stretch.
- As you feel the stretch release, straighten the leg a little more.
- Keep a very slight bend to your knee.

In your hips and lower back.

Improves hip flexibility and helps prevent ski related injuries.
