Lying Hamstring Stretch

Equipment Needed

Yoga Strap or Towel

Starting Position

Lying on a the floor.

Procedure

  1. Wrap the yoga strap or towel around the base of your foot.
  2. Lift the leg into the air and straighten it.
  3. When you feel "moderate discomfort" in the hamstring muscles hold for the suggested amount of time.

Coaching Keys

  • Keep your back flat.
  • As you feel the stretch release, straighten the leg a little more.
  • Keep a very slight bend to your knee.

You Should Feel it...

In your hamstrings.

Exercise Purpose

Improves hamstring flexibility and helps prevent ski related injuries.
