Equipment Needed
Box or Step
Starting Position
Standing next to a step or box.
Procedure
- Set the closest foot on the box.
- Lift yourself until both feet are on the box.
- Slowly step down until the outside leg is on the ground. (One leg should still be on the box.)
- Repeat for the suggested number of repetitions.
- Repeat with the opposite leg.
Coaching Keys
- Push the heel of the top foot down on the box.
- To develop more power, move quickly, forcefully pushing off the outside leg.
- Don’t round the back.
- Don’t lean forward.
- Do not let the knee move inward.
